About Ethan:

Ethan Hoffman is a lighting designer and assistant lighting designer pursuing a BFA in Theatre Design & Production with a concentration in lighting design at the University of Michigan. He has designed and contributed to a range of theatrical productions—from musicals to dance and drama—blending technical precision with creative collaboration to amplify storytelling through light. His work spans both lead design roles and assistant positions, where he collaborates closely with directors, designers, and production teams to deliver thoughtful, expressive visual environments on stage.

In addition to design and assisting, Ethan works extensively as a theatrical electrician, gaining hands-on experience in power distribution, data and networking, fixture installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This practical production experience informs his design process and allows him to collaborate fluently with crews, programmers, and production staff, bridging artistic intent with real-world execution.
